Many people are in severe financial difficulties and have been for a while. 'Please buy my house' they ask. They cannot find a buyer in the current market and every month their debt grows.
What can they do? Increase their income in some way - maybe take in a lodger under the Rent-a-Room scheme, or take on another job.
They can try to sell their home through an agent. Some have had their house on the market for eight weeks without a singe viewing. And those who may want to buy cannot get a mortgage unless they have a very stable income and credit history. And a big deposit.
Some people are not in a position to move due to illness or family issues. If they downsize, the smaller property may be more expensive than the one they are living in.
This is why people need experienced landlords to buy their property. The landlord can probably get a better mortgage deal. To all outward appearances, the former homeowners remain in their home. They pay rent instead of a mortgage. They get to stay in their home. So they need someone they can trust to buy their home.
